The 11th edition of the annual Guitar Sit-In will be held in Offagna, a traveling event through various tourist centers in central Italy that has now gained a solid reputation among fans of the "six strings" and music.
At the Municipal Library, in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the civic administration, on Sunday, November 24th, prestigious concert performers from various Italian regions and also from abroad will perform.
At 11:00 AM, after a pleasant opening of poetry and guitar by the talented artist from Civitanova, Jessica Vesprini, Marco Bazzotti, a scholar from Milan, will present a historic 1957 guitar made by luthier Pietro Gallinotti, a valuable vintage instrument by the refined Piedmontese builder.
At 3:00 PM, the same Marco Bazzotti will present the figure of guitarist Alexander Ivanov, a Russian concert performer from the early twentieth century, sharing valuable information about the family that inherited the art of the most important guitarist of the Soviet era. Russian singer Anastasia Pirogova and guitarist Massimo Agostinelli will also perform unpublished works.
A truly unique moment on the rich artistic and social vitality of the guitar will follow: Marco Battaglia, from Milan, will show the public an original 1830 guitar that belonged to Giuseppe Mazzini, a great guitar enthusiast, now owned by the Milanese scholar.
Music from the early nineteenth century will be performed, in memory of the musical preferences of the hero of the Italian Risorgimento, as can be seen from the numerous letters sent to friends and family during his periods of exile.
At 4:00 PM, a cultural and literary moment will take place: Matteo Biscarini will tell us about an episode from 1952 that occurred in Offagna, a sad event in the surrounding countryside, taken from his recently published book “I Casanolanti”.
At 4:45 PM, Sandro Lazzeri from Perugia will present on guitar authors from the classic repertoire of the instrument from the early twentieth century.
At 5:30 PM, an unprecedented duo will take the stage: Francesco Cuoghi on guitar and Nazarena Recchia on harp. The sonority of these two instruments, similar yet timbrically different, will offer a fascinating and original moment, rarely present in concert halls.
At 6:00 PM, another unique encounter between instruments: cellist Alena Tikhmanovich, of Belarusian origin, and Catalan guitarist Josep Manzano will perform a series of nineteenth-century works written for this formation, artistically important and, in this case too, unpublished pages.
The event will conclude in the late afternoon with a final greeting from all the musicians present, who will arrange to meet again next year in a new location in our region.
Admission to the events is free, and new compositions for guitar will be on display, as well as compact discs and other artistic documentation.
For Offagna, November 24th will be a culturally significant day.
