Offagna Hosts the Presentation of the Book “Polish Soldiers in Italy”: A Story of Memory, Courage and Freedom

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 5:30 PM, the Municipal Library of Offagna will host the presentation of the book *“Polish Soldiers in Italy: The One-Way Odyssey of Jan Tadeusz Sadlowski”* by Michele Giampietro.

The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Offagna, the Offagna Museum Network, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Ancona, and the Italian-Polish Association Nuova delle Marche, represents an important opportunity to explore the history of the Polish soldiers who contributed to the liberation of Italy during the Second World War.

The book tells the extraordinary story of Jan Tadeusz Sadlowski through a narrative that intertwines personal memories, historical events, and collective destiny. It offers readers a deeper understanding of the contribution made by Polish troops in the fight for freedom and of their connection with Italy.

Following the institutional greetings by the Mayor of Offagna, Ezio Capitani, author Michele Giampietro will present the book and engage in a discussion with the audience. Closing remarks will be delivered by Cristina Gorajski, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Ancona.

This event holds particular significance for Offagna, a village that preserves and promotes the memory of the Second World War through its Museum of Liberation, a unique museum in the Marche region dedicated to the history of the Allied advance and the passage of the front line through the area.

At the end of the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to join a guided tour of the Museum of Liberation, organized by the Offagna Museum Network, to further explore the stories and protagonists of this important period in history.
